Med, I hope you and other hunters can tell from the tone of my post that I found this particular hunter to be absolutely unique in his... skillz. I do not now, nor have I ever (I love that phrase) believed that the kind of behavior he displayed was typical... or even common.

And thank you for the compliment, you're very kind... especially as I see how awesome other blogs are, and how informative. I may not have hard numbers here, but I hope it gets a chuckle and a 'heck yeah' out of someone.

I am definitely in the casual camp but I am also working hard to avoid the huntard tag (your first post made me cringe btw)... practice and experience counts, but I hope that being casual only means that it will take longer, not that it isn't possible.

And on a side note, I made my way here via BRK... having checked out something in the order of 20-odd different WoW blogs recently I have to say that yours is one of the best. You have a great writing style and interesting content. Thanks very much, and keep it up!

As a fellow casual feral Druid, I say amen to this post. I try to play as much as I can, but despite having no kids (yet) my priorities to my wife and to work preclude me from running many instances (I'm not even Kara attuned and I've never done a Heroic) or getting much decent gear. I do, however, have that concern you mention for not wasting other peoples' time in the rare occurrence that I can do an instance.

I completely agree. I was pre-BC in a "raiding guild" as a part-time fill-in since I'm a "casual player." When BC landed, the guild could shrink so I found the part-timers not getting any chances to do much. I shopped my 2 level 70s and level 68 big-butt druid around and found another guild that wanted to raid casually. Inevitably, it tore itself apart because part of the guild wanted to move faster than others. I moved on and found another similar home. Again, same process occurred. And by progress, the more hardcore-style players wanted heroics and Kara immediately. The less-hardcore were content with SV, SH, and SL runs while we got rep and gear to prepare us for heroics and Kara. Alas, it never came to pass.

So now I started my own guild. Only people I know in RL are invited. Interestingly enough, it grew from a group of 7-8 folks to a guild of over 20 now. People are leaving their old servers to join the team. So far so good. I'm back running lower stuff like MT, Crypts, UB, and Sethekk, but it's still fun, and a challenge with the new group. I avoid PUGs like the plague simply because they tend to be exactly like what you described - the self-proclaimed hardcore player that wants to move fast so he can repeat the instance 5 more times for the special piece of gear or rep he needs, or the casual player that wants to get it right to maximize his experience and time. I don't like the conflict, so I stick to a group of like-minded people I know.

Good luck with you on your quest to see more content but not at the expensive of the more important stuff.
