Deadmines, forge room, tab target + pet = bad.

Deadmines, pirate ship, tab target + bridge + pet = bad.

My early WTF moments..
Tho i turned deadmines into a valuable training tool when I was a guild leader. As noobs would join the guild, I would take them on a VC run (if they were 18-25) so I could observe their listening skills. The instruction to stay on the outside wall, and visually check all targets before shooting helped me determine who was capable of paying attention more than 20 seconds. The instruction to not step onto the platform, helped me determine who the real idiots were and could put them on the list. .. ohh shiny.. ack an engineer!

more recently, playing a druid for hours on end at lvl 70, I then switched over to my hunter and do my usual jump + flight form dive off aldor tower.. wait.. hunter doesn't have ... splat

Altitis.. it's a killer.

When I read the initial journal post I could only remember one Ooops moment of my own, and thought "C'mon, I've done plenty of stupid things in my time, surely I should have tonnes of material for this!"... Having read through so many of other people's comments and realised I did those things too, I wish I could forget them all again! xD

I too spent half an hour fishing in Auberdine at level 12 to no avail until some passing kind soul stopped and watched me for a minute, then whispered me saying "You do know you're supposed to click on that little thing when it splashes, right?". I made my embarassed thanks and have since had a fruitful fishing career!

On my first day playing WoW, on a druid I made on my brother's account to see what all the fuss was about, I fell off of Teldrassil and couldn't revive at my corpse because the wisp kept falling past it too fast... I ended up phoning my brother saying "I'm floating around on the Veiled Sea" as if that would help him figure out exactly where I was and how I could get back up to the graveyard... He eventually got me to Rut'theran, but he aged a few years in the process!

I have also done the "fight with your fishing pole", "try to buy own items on neutral AH and lost the item because of it", "pulled half of gnomeregan by aggroing a mob downstairs and watching him run to me via the rest of the instance" and "run up to an enemy ready to Sap, then realising I forgot to Stealth as the whol group ganks me in 3 seconds" mistakes.

My more unique, and certainly biggest Ooops moment, was when I was 60, pre-TBC. I'd been raiding with my guild for ages, and had cleared MC and part of BWL. We were just recovering from another wipe and getting ready to try again, when I hit a button on my Necrosis add-on that, I thought, would cast Life Tap... Nothing happened. I kept clicking and clicking, somehow not realising that the whole time the cast bar was slowly casting at the bottom of the screen. I started to type "Damnit, my mod's not working" but was cut off half way - the button in question was actually set to Hearthstone, and I was now standing in Ironforge as "OK, everyone into positions" came across raid chat. I completely missed the next attempt as I flew, rode and jogged back to the group, feeling like I was level 1 again. Everyone was surprisingly forgiving, and let me off... Though until the day that guild split up it was a running joke before major boss attempts for my class leader to remind me in Warlock chat not to run away if I got too scared! xD

I was questing in Felwood with a buddy one day when we came across a poor NE npc trapped inside a cage. She beseeches us to free her from her prison, and we go about pwning mobs till her key drops.
We get back to her cage and I open up my bags in search of the key-- and it's not there? What the heck? So I tell my buddy and he opens a ticket, and we go about killing more stuff trying to get the key to drop while we wait for a reply.
About a half hour later a gm responds. His first question is "Did you look on your keyring?"

... Oops.

In my defense, this was soon after the keyring was released. >_<

Heh. Lot of nice stories here. My horribad moment came when i hit level 62, I think. First character, NE rogue, feeling pretty cool in Outland. Doing somewhat ok dps for my level, certainly topping the chart (yeah, I read that post too:). Ran Blood Furnace with a rogue a few levels higher, and he totally beasts me. No idea what i was doing wrong, I mean we had more or less similar gear.

As it turns out, subtlety-spec spamming sinister strike with a 1.5-speed dagger isn´t exactly optimal :(

my real 'Christ im stupid' moment came when i was about 60. i never ran instances while lvling, so when i got to outlands a friend invited me to his guild where i learned about the wonderful world of ramps, BF etc. where i learned i MUST tern off growl (after an embarrassing dressing down from my gm). we got to the end with a few wipes and i was feeling good. so i thought id go test some of my new kit, after about half a hour of frustration at pulling aggro of my pet (man these new gloves are AWESOME) and dying enough times to make me contemplate Hari Kiri, i realized growl was still turned off ''doh'' indeed.

Whats really upsetting is i still forget from time to time

I remember thinking I could kill anything by rooting it long enough and nuking it. This was when I was around 17 and to prove my point to myself i decided to try it out on the dwarves outside of uldaman (since it was right by loch modan where I was questing). Needless to say they were marked with a skull... but I had no clue what that meant and comeon with roots they wouldn't be able to touch me... so ya. A few resists and a smack accross the head made me realize I wasn't quite that uber.

Oh and even though I leveled feral my gear was allways a mix of every stat not because I wanted to be a hybrid but because it required a higher level and was leather...

When I was leveling up my night elf druid, I went into Stormwind (it was hell getting there from Darnassus just for some quest rewards, believe me.) to get some training. Oh, shit, there's a Horde raid group in town. I walk around, knowing they can't attack me, and hoping they left the Park alone. I was clumsy with my mouse and when I held right click to turn around and walk to the park, my middle finger slipped off and I smacked the level ?? Tauren Shaman with my staff for 15 damage.

Aw, balls. He turns around, smacks me with his mace and frostshocks me. I was dead, and flagged for PVP inside a city filled with Horde. "Oops," I told my guild. "KEK," the Tauren yells, and the idiot paladin beside him says "kek" and teabags me.

Another oops moment for me was when I realized Naturalist increases damage /given/, not taken. I messed around with my spec for 10 minutes, freeing up enough points for Naturalist.

My big "Oops" moment was just a few days ago and had nothing to do with fishing. We were at Maiden in kara and me, being a Resto Druid, was checking the gear drops and hoping for the Shard to drop. I was also talking to my fiancee about something and paying a little attention in game as I was already ready at that point. Over vent, I hear our radi leader say "Ok, we're starting in 3,2,1...go" and I click out of my inventory and move into position, only to realize our tank hasn't moved yet and the big white woman in front of me is focusing her attention on me and isn't happy... Oops. Apparently, the tank had something to say real quick before we started and that's why he hadn't run in.

So now I've coined the phrase "Tree tank ftw" in my guild.

I too accidentaly discovered the lack of DPS Produced by my the 2H Fishing Pole with Shiny Baubles. I was fishing in Ashenvale when a nice friendly Undead Rogue found me and decided I didn't need to be fishing in his stream and wanted to Spar with me against my will (PvP Server). Also my 1st introduction to being Sapped... Maybe that was what encouraged me to shoot at every Rogue I now see.....

IMO Blizz definately needs to nerf that DPS... I Have been smacked by 2H Fishing Poles in RL.... and that $h1t HURTS! Have you ever been smacked by a Shiny Bauble? a.k.a Fishing Lure? THEY HURT TOO!! Hmm... Shiny Bauble - Adds +75 Fishing Skill and DPS to the 2H Fishing Pole... I Wonder... can I use an Adamantite Weightstone on the Fishing pole?

One time I sent a petition to a a GM, several times, this was right after 2.4 came out, an I thought that something in the new patch had screwed me over, since for some reason, I was only doing 90% of my damage. After several weeks of this, I finally got in contact with a GM, who's first question is "Are you in defensive stance?"

.........
