I finally took a look at a gov't job and landed a nice job with the Dept of State (posting during lunch :P). It doesn't help right now but you may want to give their Facilities Maint job a looksee (http://careers.state.gov/specialist/opportunities/facmaint.html) if you're open to living overseas.
