So, a very late night Heroic Violet Hold.

A good scratch group of all melee DPS, feral tank and healer.

We bounce in, and I tell the group that I can’t describe fights I haven’t seen, because WoWWiki does not load for me… one of the ads tehy are running flips to white screen. So Cassie volunteers to read fight descriptions of those bosses come up.

I tell the group that I know the fights for the bosses I’ve seen all the time… Eyeball dude, Arrakoa, Doggie, Waterboy.

If we get Etherial or Purple Passion Fruit, we’ll have to get some reading done. Fast. But what are the odds? Eh?

So we plow through waves one through five…

Wave six is the Purple People Eater. Of course.

Cassie tries to read what to do, we scurry around killing adds, but we wipe.

okay, regroup, take our time reading it. At least now we know what’s coming.

Oh, hey… key detail, when he casts Shroud of darkness, DON’T ATTACK HIM.

Good to know.

Okay, we go in and take it the second time, blast through, take him on…

And one by one, the party gets taken out, until there is only me standing as the boss dies.

Okay, so I res Cal, and I’m chatting about what a tough fight that is, yadda yadda, Cal starts ressing someone…

Hey, what the hell… OH SHIT!

Next portal had opened, next group was running for the door.

Oh yeah, Violet Hold doesn’t pause while you recover from a near total party wipe. How about that shit.

Battle rez, battle rez, heal up, Innervate Night, ignore the mobs pounding at the door, recover as fast as we can…

Okay, pull the switch, pick them up, let’s get back on track.

It took three more portals before we got caught up, and everyone had a chance to go over to the bosses body and get their Emblems.

Whoops!

Of course, at portal 12, it was the Etherial, the only other guy we hadn’t seen before. But grab him and drag his ass over the balcony out of line of sight of his orbs, he was cake. Not pie, I said cake.

It’s nice to know there is an achievement for having seen and beat all possible boss types on Heroic.

Now, note to self… the next time we have a complete party wipe except for little old me… and it’s on Violet Hold…

Hey, B^3, can you get your ass in gear next time? Maybe?

Nothing quite as much fun as scurrying to catch up when the waves be rolling on.

  1. Definitely not pie :)

    Well recovered guys!

  2. Battle Rez FTW!!! And in a pinch (as long as you aren’t the tank) a shadowmeld to revive works too!!! Great story 3B…

It seemed that we had so much time after the bosses. I’ve been there maybe 10 times and am always waiting it seems like forever for the next wave after a boss (always have time to run around and skin everything in the room). That time I was just as surprised as you when they appeared. Yea I love the multiple battle rez and innervates.

  4. Interesting, the only bosses I haven’t seen there so far are the doggie and the purple passion fruit. All the others I’ve seen and killed, killed the water guy several times in fact. VH is one of those instances that is a simple concept but very punishing if you happen to wipe.

  5. lol You’re story is fitting. I ran Heroic VH last night as tree healer since another healer was not available. I knew the tank and the rogue and the other two were apparently alt of people. We got big blue void guy and the tank said just heal if you get the debuff, the dps will pick it up with the next debuff. Apparently they didn’t lol Shadowbolts were everywhere by the time I got the debuff (3rd I think). I guess not everyone else knew what to do lol Nice job on the recovery. I think the water guy is the hardest and the group I usually run with just pull the lever on him. We have so much AoE ability that I’d like to attempt it but who am I to argue with an easy badge :)

  6. Hey, I learned some valuable lessons in Violet Hold recently myself!

  7. What are the chances.

Just some help. When u get the void in VH there are two tricks. Once of them is bring someone who can Purge the shroud off of him when he cast it on himself. I run a shaman and its my duty to remove that beasty when it goes on. Also watch your party. When u can attack the little voids he summons one of you will take a purple tint and have a debuff on you allowing you to kill them. When u see it, regardless of what role you are playing down em. It does mean that people will need to pick up the slack elsewhere (back up heals, take over tanking for a moment, etc) but it works well. My guild farms these heroics and have found that if you stick to it you can literally burn him down in under a minute.

Also on the water boss we like to have someone camp by one of the switches. You can throw the switch and destroy all of em out there. If you anticipate it right you can leave him naked and get the achievement.

  9. well done m8, i’ve only een in there once, sounds a bit hectic! I wanna go!

  10. For myself, the messy and roitous action is always the most fun. Reading a solutions manual and then applying it is pretty much monkeyworks. It is when things go away from plan, or (imagaine this) you develop your own plan, THAT is where the real fun is.

I enjoyed the tale. It is the unplanned events that make the true victories and thus the good war story tales.
