When Cassie drops 600 gold on Sunday to buy her Expert Riding Skill, and WoW puts Expert Riding on sale for 225 gold two days later, she can’t take her receipt back to WoW to request a refund.
Damn, is she pissed.

Put in a nice reasonable ticket as a long-time customer. Worked with Amazon and my Kindle. ‘Course Blizz might be more like Apple and the iPhone. Shrug.
Just like all of us who bought flying and riding way before they updated the prices and levels…or those of us who spent tons of money on faction mounts until they lowered the prices…why can’t ALL of us get our “excess gold” back? I could spend it on more mounts!
So, I feel her pain, and I know why she’s pissed. But there, there, Cassie. You shall make the gold back in no time. Just think of it as a nice big flipping the bird to Blizz. :)
Hehe, i’d like a refund.
after a bit of math blizzard owe me 5575 gold for riding alone and 2770 gold for mounts.
For some reason i don’t think i’ll be getting a refund…
ouch >.<
.-= Dechion´s last blog ..Rolling up my sleeves =-.
Blizzards customer service is terrible. Terrribblee.
During all the server issues in a heroic, the last boss wouldn’t loot. We could see the loot screen, and when we tried to loot it made the sound of us picking it up, but we couldn’t receive the loot. I opened a ticket (now 4 days ago).. It’s still open, 3 days ago it gave me the countdown of 2hr, 1hr etc.. It’s been on “your ticket will be serviced soon” since then.
In every industry customer service is starting to play a BIG role in how a company does… I wonder if the same effect will happen in the gaming industry.

I had epic flying mounts on 3 characters and all but epic skill on 2 others before the price change – the first price change. That meant grinding that horrendous amount of money in TBC
The words I uttered when the prices dropped were… vehement in my displeasure
Hi B^3 ,
just a word of warning!
The most severe fault you could make would be saying something like ‘… and I got my flying for 7G20S at the teachers and like to get a small refund, too!!’
(Just to save a fellow bear’s familiy life^^)
Well i didn’t buy mine a few days ago, but i’ve played enough MMOs to just accept price changes, although i do like seeing my my 74 shaman can get epic flight for 4250 instead of 5k and thats with no rep griding at all, but im still not gonna buy it, yet….. my 80 mage a hunter have epic flight, and my druid see’s more skies than they do.
I got my first regular land mount, on my first ever toon at 40, almost 4 days before they first dropped the required level down to 30. /frown
Well, I bought my car for $18,000. Now, you can buy that same car for $5000. I want my money back!
How is this any different? I personally think it’s shocking that people feel they have any right to a refund at all when prices drop. Welcome to the real world! Some stores will offer partial refunds for things bought just before an item goes on sale, but not many. And certainly none on big-ticket items (Cars and mounts are similar this way!)
As to Cassie…. you had to know they were dropping the mount prices. You’ve blogged about it! Why did she buy that flight training just before they dropped the prices? That’s just silly.
@ Derrick…. I read Wind’s blog every day :) and I have not seen any mention of them lowering the prices on the mount training. Maybe you were thinking of another blogger.
Thanks, Ely. I have to admit, sometimes I read someone’s comment, like Derricks, and think, “Geez… relax.”
After all… who the heck said we wanted a refund? Who said we blogged about it before? I certainly don’t remember blogging about it. And why do you have to get all pissy here?
If my posting something cute to mention that Cassie got cheesed in a “Damn, if’ I’d only waited two days” kinda way means someone gets actually offended, “how dare we feel that way”, gotta rant about it… hey, dude, seriously… it’s okay. Relax. It’s just gold. It’s imaginary money. It’s okay.
I am with Cassie on this! I spent the cash to get my pally the mount only to see a few days later the stealth price change. WAIL!!!!!
/agree
I just did the same for my dk the night servers went down for patching
only to see that mount price change the next day man I was pissed
still think bliz should give back to those who payed orignal full price
for all rideing skills
Sorry, that came off entirely wrong, and I apologize. There was zero offense/outrage/pissyness on my part, only a lot of surprise, but rereading that comment I can definitely see how it was interpreted that way.
I was sure you’d blogged about the price reduction before. It’s fairly old news now (months old) and was a huge deal for a while on various community sites (wow forums, insider, etc) where surprising numbers of people were demanding refunds because of the impending price drop. I read too many different blogs, apparently. The refund comment in particular was in reference to the overall community outcry that way, hence why I started the second part with “As to Cassie…” – I realize you were not demanding a refund.
Of course, because clearly you didn’t know about it, and I made some rather stupid assumptions coupled with poor choices of wording(and far too many exclamation points), I’ve managed to make a huge ass of myself.
So, again, I apologize. No offense was intended!
