I just got f-cked real hard in a pug ICC25. I rolled 100. Yes it was 100. On a neck dropped by Lady Deathwisper http://www.wowwiki.com/Ahn%27kahar_Onyx_Neckguard
And the leader said it was dps only. I didnt get it and I really would have won lots of stats on that neck. I do not favour parry. I do not gain much extra good stuff from defence, but i gett aggrobuild and reduced dmg from ap. And it had stamina to make u smile. Why cant all see that gear is about balancing stats.

Oh, forget my previous post. I see that you are trying to make it a list for people who don’t raid much, and the Origin of Nightmares is a 25 Naxx drop.

You used to have the Origin of Nightmares staff from Naxx in this list. Was there a reason why it was dropped out? +100 AGI and +150 STA is hard to sneeze at.

May sound nubbish (even though been playing for 5 years) but does Mongoose procs even if you never swing with it as a melee? Thx for answer I just started tanking with my druid.

…seeing Mongoose as the best bear enchant made me ungodly happy since on my Warrior I was screwing around with a few others in Kara and my wife ended up with that.

Great list BBB! I wish I had the time and was willing to spend it to build a list like this. More than a couple of these items are very good even for folks that ARE raiding, I think, especially if you're not raiding very heavily - I know I've been using a few of them for a LONG time... .-= Kaethir´s last blog ..I'm a Druid, and I Cheat =-.

Mael… if you read the description above the list, you’ll see I had specifically addressed the Ashen rep. No, really. It’s okay, I understand, most folks probably assumed I copied/pasted the same description from the last post. It’s cool. I’ll expand on what I said to say, on our server rep raids are treated more as pugs, where anyone of any spec or gear level is welcome, so long as there are some tanks and healers, because they aren’t doing anything but kill trash. So it’s really just a big pug, not a raid, and you can stay or go as long as you like.

Rahl, to answer you… I didn’t miss it, I didn’t list it because it drops from raids. Likewise, I right now am using the staff from Heigan but it’s not listed here because it’s a drop from a raid. I won the roll for the Orca Hunter’s Harpoon last night… but I am not equipping it yet because it has tons of Hit Rating, and I am already way over the hit cap. I may equip it just because it looks neat, but it’s more for if I get upgrades that take me under the hit cap, which honestly doesn’t look likely any time soon. You are absolutely correct, the Reclaimed Thunderstrike totally rocks… but if you’re raiding, you need to be looking at a totally different loot list. :)

Paona, nice to hear from you! In answer to your question, yes, absolutely the Monarch Crab rocks. Gem that sucker out, get +123 stam, and also get some sweet Dodge. Not a problem. Stam and dodge, both tasty treats. Where the rankings come into play is in your playstyle. As I said, and really, I mean it, tanking gear and stats are based on the content YOU anticipate running. In fact, that’s going to eventually be the topic of today’s post. But in this case, using your example of the Essence of Gossamer, the more mobs that are pounding on you, the better Essence of Gossamer is. If you are being a main tank on one mob, then it’s actually not very good, but if you are regularly picking up a whole world of trash, then that proc is actually very, very solid. In fact, the only reason I ranked the Direbrew charms above it is because, in MOST raiding situations prior to Icecrown, having stacked obscene amounts of health over all else was necessary in order to survive some of the incredible hits that may come in if you are unlucky in a dodge.

Really, if you passed on Essence… don’t sweat it. I actually stopped using Essence of Gossamer in favor of the Brawler’s Souvenir, because I’ve been experimenting in the trash heavy new 5 mans with focusing on ridiculous amounts of Dodge. Look at how far down Brawler’s is. It’s not about where something is on the list, so much as what it does to fill a gap in your gear.
