I emailed my three Senators and Congressman, two of who are cosponsors of SOPA and/or PIPA, the third I couldn't find his stance. I basically told all three (well, their staffers, I don't make anywhere near enough money to actually talk to them personally) that if they supported censorship and voted for the SOPA and PIPA that I would do my best to censor them by voting for whoever runs against them in their next election.

If enough people tell their Representatives that they will NOT have their support come election time it doesn't matter how much money they're getting from the pro-SOPA people, they WILL listen to us. The catch is getting enough people to contact them.

Oh sure, everyone posts links on their FB page or their Blog or talks about it over the watercooler, but how many people will actually contact their Rep?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your views on this.
I've signed petitions, emailed and contacted my states representatives, and hope everyone else will do the same.

Here's a website for anyone that would like more information:

The paying off part is hardly a secret. Anyone who bothers to check opencongress.org can see all the above-the-table money flowing ... and who knows how much happens under the table?

Also, I can't emphasize this enough: Phone calls count for so much more than emails or letters or petitions. They take one or two minutes and you just end up giving your name and your issue to a staffer whose job it is to hear what you have to say and thank you for your time. I was really worried about mine, but it ended up being very quick and totally painless.

In the long run, though, the cynic in me doesn't think any amount of popular outcry will count for much against an overwhelming torrent of cash.
