Bear kills militants in Kashmir

As reported on the BBC this morning;

Bear kills militants in Kashmir

By Altaf Hussain
BBC News, Srinagar

A bear killed two militants after discovering them in its den in Indian-administered Kashmir, police say.

Two other militants escaped, one of them badly wounded, after the attack in Kulgam district, south of Srinagar.

The militants had assault rifles but were taken by surprise – police found the remains of pudding they had made to eat when the bear attacked.

It is thought to be the first such incident since Muslim separatists took up arms against Indian rule in 1989.

Bodies found

The militants had made their hideout in a cave which was actually the bear’s den, said police officer Farooq Ahmed.

The dead have been identified as Mohammad Amin alias Qaiser, and Bashir Ahmed alias Saifullah.

News of the attack emerged when their injured comrade went to a nearby village for treatment.

“Word spread in the village that Qaiser had been killed by the bear,” another police officer said.

A joint party of the police and army personnel went into the forest and collected the bodies of the two militants.

Police say they also recovered two Kalashnikov assault rifles and some ammunition from the hideout.

I just wanted to say, proud to still be doing my part!

  1. A marine sniper in Afganistan was interviewed by a news agency in which he was asked what he felt when he shot and killed insurgents.

    He simply replied, “Recoil”.

  2. Okay, okay. I found myself a new home at the Bigbearbutt. My favorite, most-recent article: LIVINGSTON, Mont. — A hunter attacked by a grizzly bear in southern Montana also had the misfortune of being shot in the arm by a companion trying to stop the attack

  3. Chris, I’m not really apologizing for having the sense of humor, or for displaying it. As you can see, I posted it. 🙂

No, my concern and desire to apologize to folks is directed at those nice people that may never have heard of or seen this blog before, but recently saw a link to the Raid for the Cure post, and came to offer their support or to find more details on the event.

The event is not a Big Bear Butt thing, it’s a community event. I’m just one spokesperson and organizer, from among MANY. The Sidhe Devils may have started it, but it’s moving beyond those bounds, and a lot of people are showing support and encouragement.

On the one hand, I’m still me and will continue to do my thing, but on the other, I’d really rather not offend or disturb the sensibilities of folks that came here looking to help or support the effort.

  4. Hooah. I have to also laugh at stories like these (e.g. man gets armed ripped off by bear while reaching in cage, etc.). Keep up the good work.

P.S. I have a new toon on Kael’Thas (all my others are on Muradin)… finally working on a DK to see what all the hype is about (lol… a year later). This is also my first Ally toon. Any guild recommendations? Name is: Elegantdeath

  5. Because there is no such thing as an ex-Marine. In other news, research on Bear form for US Armed Forces seems to be progressing nicely.

Oh and Threebee? Never apologize for your sense of humor. Apology rejected. I expect an apology for your pathetic apology within the hour.
.-= Christopher´s last blog ..Someone’s playing too much Fallout =-.

  6. For those who are new to my blog, and are unfamiliar with my background and sense of humor, and who might be offended at finding a post treating the deaths of two Muslim militants flippantly, I do apologize. It’s just part of the whole package, I’m afraid.
